Views and Opinions

On a really tight budget? The company 1-on-1-Resumes.com offers a pretty darn compelling
price, and the same low price regardless of your level of experience. To sweeten the deal even further,
the company guarantees you'll land an interview within 30 days, or they will re-write your resume at no additional
charge. So, should you buy? Don't think so. Jump to What We Didn't
Like.
So why an AVOID rating? Well, the first thing we noticed was the writing quality – the down side of most
budget resumes. That's assuming the resume samples posted at the company's website are any indication.
But there are other troubles, as well (see below).
How It Works:
On the home page, you'll see a link marked "Click Here To Have Us Write Your Resume!" Click it, and
follow the instructions. You'll be asked to forward an existing resume and/or fill out their online form.
Complete your order and make payment.
Don't expect a telephone interview with your assigned writer. At these prices, that's not in the cards. But you
are given a means to communicate directly with your writer, should the need arise.
You'll see your finished resume in 2-3 business days via email in Microsoft Word format. Contact your writer if
you need to make any changes or corrections. You've got 30 days to line up at least one job interview, or the
company will re-write your resume at no charge.
Here's What We Liked:
-
Pricing is easy on the wallet.
- Fast turnaround.
- Hard copies are available.
Here's What We Didn't Like:
- No indication that the writers are certified; presume that they are not. While
certification alone is no assurance of writing quality, it does imply a certain base level of resume knowledge
and marketing savvy. We like to see certification.
- Telephone interview is not in the cards. We have a bias toward telephone interviews -- although they
do add to the price of a resume.
- Resume samples do not impress. They indicate a lesser quality of workmanship than those of our
3, 4 and 5-star companies.
- We got no response--at all--to repeated emails and phone calls to the company.
- Finally, the Better Business Bureau. Having previously given the company an "A" rating,
they dropped that to an "F" and revoked BBB accreditation from the company for failure to comply with
agreed BBB standards (evidently something to do with use of the BBB logo without permission). Update:
They're currently rated a C as of October 2016.
1-on-1-Resumes.com Review - The Wrap Up:
For those on a tight budget, you can get a professional resume for less than ninety bucks. At least that's the
pitch. The sad truth is that the writing quality is not up to par with the services we rate 3, 4 and 5
stars.
And buyer beware: customer service appears non existent. And it's never a good sign when the BBB has revoked a
company's accreditation, which it has in this case.
We cannot recommend the company. As with all of our reviews, this is our opinion--we always advise readers to do
their own due diligence. So, if you'd like to explore further for yourself...
